Weekend Update 6/13/21

We spent the weekend with James’ family in Cle Elum, and as always we had so much fun at the ranch. Both kids, and all the dogs have a blast exploring the property, and this weekend was no exception.

We also recently had our property there staked so we could get a better sense of the property boundaries, and I am so happy we did. If you’re a new reader around here, James’ family owns a large property outside of Cle Elum (it’s a former guest ranch), and has been in the process of gifting us some of the acreage. We currently own about 20 acres and plan on building a vacation home there (once we finish renovating our home in Spokane). Having the boundaries staked gave us a clear idea of what was “ours” and also confirmed that the site we would ideally like to build on is in fact on our property, and not James’ parents or aunt’s.

My trusty Blundstone boots– I cannot recommend them enough! I wear them all the time, whether it be out hiking or in town.

We’ve used our Osprey baby carrier since Cameron was little and it’s worth every penny. It’s comfortable for both the kids and adults alike, and it has room to carry short hike necessities.

We’ll update more on the property in Cle Elum as we make progress on it. We’ll probably start on house plans and site work next year, but in the meantime our focus is on our new house in Spokane, since we move in in a few weeks and have our hands full with renovations there.

We are currently getting lots of bids, since first up is flooring, painting, redoing the kitchen, and changing out the light fixtures. If you follow along on my Instagram stories, you may have noticed James using this funny looking camera. We purchased it at the recommendation of our home inspector, since we had a few beams/headers we were interested in removing but weren’t sure if they were structural (or hiding HVAC/electrical). Spoiler alert- they’re structural…
